For this restaurant project in the United States, the customer wanted to improve an interior dining area with very limited access to natural daylight.
Rather than simply increasing the brightness with conventional ceiling lights, the goal was to create the visual impression of sunlight entering the restaurant from openings in the ceiling. At the same time, the lighting needed to remain comfortable for diners without creating excessive glare.
The customer also wanted different lighting atmospheres throughout the day, including warmer sunrise and sunset scenes.
Without sufficient natural light, the original restaurant interior could feel enclosed, particularly during daytime operating hours. Standard LED fixtures could provide functional illumination, but they could not create the visual connection with daylight and sky that the customer wanted.
The main requirements were:
Create a realistic blue-sky and daylight impression
Simulate sunlight entering from the ceiling
Maintain comfortable illumination without harsh glare
Provide sunrise and sunset atmospheres
Allow convenient adjustment of brightness and color temperature
Integrate the fixtures naturally into the restaurant ceiling
After reviewing the space and the customer's requirements, 8 units RYOPT E6001200 artificial skylights were selected for the project.
The E Series is designed with a straight-down lighting structure, combining a visible blue-sky appearance with natural-looking illumination. Installed as recessed ceiling features, the skylights help create the impression that daylight is entering the restaurant from above.
Instead of producing only a decorative blue ceiling, the artificial skylights also provide functional white light for the dining environment.
This combination was particularly suitable for the restaurant because the customer wanted both a distinctive visual experience and practical interior illumination.
The lighting atmosphere of a restaurant can influence how the same interior is perceived at different times of the day.
With tunable color temperature and brightness, the E6001200 skylights allow the customer to create different scenes throughout operating hours.
In the morning, warmer light can reproduce a sunrise-inspired atmosphere. During daytime, brighter and cooler illumination creates a clearer daylight appearance. Toward the evening, warmer tones can be introduced again to create a softer sunset-style environment.
The circadian rhythm lighting function can also adjust the lighting according to a programmed daily schedule, allowing the artificial skylights to transition through different brightness and color-temperature settings over time.
For convenient daily operation, all eight artificial skylights are configured with Tuya App and remote control.
Restaurant staff can adjust the lighting according to the time of day, dining atmosphere, event, or operational requirement.
Brightness and color temperature can be changed without modifying the physical installation. Lighting schedules can also be configured through the App, making the system easier to manage as part of the restaurant's daily routine.
The completed installation transformed the ceiling from a purely functional surface into an important part of the restaurant's interior design.
The blue-sky appearance introduces visual depth, while the downward illumination creates the impression of daylight coming from above. The result is especially noticeable in areas where real windows or roof skylights are unavailable.
Careful light distribution also helps maintain a comfortable dining environment. The objective was not to make the restaurant excessively bright, but to balance sky effect, illumination, visual comfort, and atmosphere.
